Overview: Warm, organized and proactive Family Assistant needed for family of 6 in Nashville.

Mom and Dad met in New York City, where they were ‘set up’ by mutual friends. It appears it was a great match because the two quickly fell in love, got married, and spent the next decade building a life in Brooklyn. With family as their greatest priority, the couple took a leap of faith 3 years ago, and moved their tribe to Nashville to raise their children in a more spacious and family-friendly environment.

Dad is originally from Michigan, and runs a Venture Fund in the Finance World, which gives him the flexibility to be a very present and involved Dad, though he still travels to NYC monthly. Mom was raised as a traveling missionary kid, based out of Florida, and her formal background is in nonprofit leadership. She has a Master’s Degree in Christian Education and Spiritual Formation – both of which have been deeply meaningful and practical in parenting. While she still consults occasionally, she stepped away from full time work after their third child was born to be full present during her children’s precious early years.

Together the couple has 4 children who are full of personality and each uniquely wonderful. Mom and Dad say their children share a deep bond and fierce love for each other, and one of their greatest joys as parents is to see their children’s relationships flourish.

Their oldest, (G7), is an empath, who is always looking for ways to love others however she can imagine. She’s a beauty creator, community-builder, an artistic truth seeker, expressive and full of life. (G7) is in school full time.

Next in line is (B4), their little guy with a tender, curious heart. He is goofy and fun, deeply imaginative, and loves getting lost in stories – whether he’s being read to or creating his own. He’s inquisitive, sensitive, and quick to forgive. (B4) is in school MWF.

(G3) is his younger sister that is bold, clever, fearless, and so much fun. She exudes confidence, is wicked smart, makes friends everywhere she goes, and takes on new challenges with joy. (G3) is in school with (B4) MWF.

And rounding out the crew is the family’s newest addition, (B6mos), who is pure delight. He has brought so much joy and love to the family and is universally adored! (B6mos) is home full time.

The family’s current nanny has been with them for over 2 years and they have had a wonderful experience with her. Unfortunately, her time with them is coming to an end, so they are looking for a new caregiver to grow with them in the next phase of their family.

Currently, there are no pets in the home.

Mom and Dad describe their family as active, tight-knit, creative and deeply relational. Their faith is their bedrock, and they are grateful to have found a Church Home at Church of the Redeemer in Oak Hill. When not working, they love spending time outdoors, reading, biking, swimming, crafting, cooking, and hosting friends for meals and parties.

When it comes to parenting style, theirs is rooted in connection, mutual respect, kind communication and clear boundaries; emphasizing emotional regulation, repair, forgiveness, and grace-filled learning in a calm, connected environment. Mom and Dad believe in fostering an interdependent home life, where everyone shares developmentally appropriate responsibilities to build self-awareness, responsibility, and expression. Mom and Dad’s guiding principle is ‘connection before correction,’ and view their role as nurturing, guiding, and delighting in their children as they grow into who they are created to be.

The family's ideal candidate is:

Protective and Responsible: Someone who will prioritize the safety and wellbeing of all of the children, at all times.

Organized: Someone who likes Organization, especially as it pertains to the children and their belongings. Mom has a saying that, ‘Everything Has A Home,’ and she would be very pleased to find a nanny who will walk alongside her, and make sure things are reset and back in place by the end of each day. Also, someone who can encourage and direct the children to do the same.

Doesn’t mind Laundry: Laundry is a daily focus for this family of 6, so caregivers who can manage at least one load a day from start to finish is needed. Also, someone who is able to assist with seasonal clothing organization as well.

Experienced and Professional: Someone who has experience and is comfortable supporting both childcare and home operations, by helping manage the day-to-day needs of the household to ensure a peaceful, well-run environment. Responsibilities can include: setting up and meeting repair people, grocery shopping, running errands, restocking household items, car maintenance appointments, event set up and vendor coordination.

Proactive: Some say it takes a village to raise a family, but what it really takes is just one person who can see what is needed, knows how to help, and has the confidence to step in and take charge without being asked. Someone who is naturally organized and efficient, who takes initiative, and has a team-player spirit would be a great fit for this family.

Adaptable: Someone who is not afraid to step in and work alongside Mom during key moments of the day like meals, naps, school transitions, and bed and bath time.

Experienced Driver: Because driving can be a regular part of their nanny’s day, caregivers who are experienced and comfortable driving minors, and who have a clean driving record, is a must.

Open to Travel or In Town Overnights: This family enjoys taking 2 to 3 week-long vacations per year, and lives in Northern Michigan for the summers for 8 – 10 weeks.

They would love to find an adventurous nanny who has experience traveling with a family, and who would like to come along, all expenses paid. There is typically one trip a year that will be adult only, and in that case, they would like a nanny that can stay with the kids in Nashville while the parents are out of town.

*It is important to note that if a nanny can’t travel for the entire summer, the family will maintain nanny’s wages in exchange for Assistance with House Projects in Nashville.

Family does NOT require candidates to have a current Covid Vaccine, TDAp or Flu Shot.

Overview of nanny's typical work day:

Nanny arrives: Between 8am and 10 am

With 4 children under the age of 8, each day may look a little different than the next.

Daily activities can include caring for (B6mos): bottle feeding, engaging during wake times, putting down for naps, and changing diapers. Nanny will be primary caregiver for (B6mos) on T/TH as Mom reserves time for (B4) and (G3) on the days they are not in school.

(G7) is in school full time, and (B4) and (G3) are in school MWF. Daily activities for them can include Pick Up and Drop Off and taking them to extracurricular activities.

There will be windows of time during the day, or even full days, when Mom has the kiddos, and the family would like a nanny to pivot to the Family Assistant role and help with laundry, dishes, errands, grocery shopping, meal prep, and managing home appointments.

End of Day: Between 4pm and 6pm
